BIO

I'm a Philadelphia based artist with a BFA in Printmaking from Tyler School of Art. I focus primarily on the combination of serigraphy and fiber work.

STATEMENT

My work focuses on the utilitarian objects and materials that we encounter on a daily basis – the things that we carry, use and ignore. By compiling images of futile and commonplace objects, I have created my own source of symbols and phrases inspired by the mundane, including religious phrases and their domination of highway landscapes. The production of these images provide me with a sense of satisfaction through the obsessive compiling and accumulation of marks, giving me a new perspective of what it means to have, collect and discard.

I’m interested in an object’s ability to sympathize.  As most of my work derives from observation, I have a need to document these complacent objects. These things that exist independently, but also require attention. Personally, these pieces address loneliness, ownership and levels of comfort.

I’m inspired by thing theory, folk music, contemporary poetry and boredom.
